Sustainability certification: goals and objectives of Castri Palace

A few months ago we embarked on a delicate path, one that requires time and energy, but one that we as an accommodation facility care about enormously.

It is about obtaining sustainability certification, a tool that guarantees our guests, as well as travel agencies and various intermediaries, certain sustainability characteristics divided according to precise criteria and parameters.

Thus, it is a "seal of quality" for accommodations, especially since it is not so much services that are taken care of as that set of requirements, values and ethical principles, which guide the enterprise in its operations.

The certification process is divided into several steps-three to be precise-and as we said in the opening of the article, it requires great dedication and heartfelt teamwork involving all members of the hotel.

Currently, we have achieved four out of nine required sustainability requirements:

  • Human rights, relationships and working conditions;
  • Health and safety;
  • Customer, user and consumer management;
  • Involvement and development of the local community

Sustainability: why it is crucial to talk about it

In our industry, too, the concept of sustainability, extended on many levels, now takes on truly primary importance. Precisely because of the volumes of tourist flows, and the change in so many factors that regulate the market, great attention must be paid to what you offer, and how you do it.

It is necessary to think not only from a marketing and business perspective but from the perspective of protecting the rights and all-round well-being of guests as well as the working conditions of employees and not least...the health of the planet and its resources.

Every activity, today, consumes at least as much as it produces: the value of what one does, moreover, should be measured increasingly on the basis also of what one is able to give back to the local community and territory.

Castri Palace's goals to date and mission statement

Determined in an increasingly remarkable way to pursue the path we have taken, to obtain the remaining validations, we would like to tell you how important this choice has been for us.

To find ourselves operating in the historic center of Florence, one of the capitals of European tourism, at the center of careful analysis by researchers, experts and activists on the phenomena of gentrification and overtourism, allows us to work from a "privileged" observatory, a place that reveals dynamics and processes at work in a clear and sharp manner.

Ours is meant to be a clear signal of a willingness to participate positively in the social and structural change we experience in this historic time.

We wish to help redesign "lighter," respectful, regulated forms of tourism.

We are proud of this path!
