After a restful sleep in the very comfortable Superior room with a splendid view of "La Limonaia" garden, in the morning we woke up by 8 a.m. and went down to the designated bar room of Florentia Café for breakfast.
A new week, made up of business calls and meetings, awaits us: in fact, Monday morning is a delicate time to plan and put all the appointments and things to do on the agenda.
With the spirit of those who have enjoyed a truly relaxing weekend in the city, we prepare to savor breakfast knowing that it will be the last moment of pleasure before leaving the pleasant welcome of this boutique hotel located in the heart of the city center. A true refuge from daily stress, a corner of well-being where, from the very first meeting with the receptionists, one feels as if taken into custody by kind and welcoming people who will do everything possible to make us feel comfortable, pampered and welcome.
A hotel made up of large, open spaces where there is no deafening noise and no risk of talking over or finding yourself in the midst of other people's conversations. The rooms are well designed and furnished to have privacy and autonomy. In addition, the outdoor garden space is a lung of oxygen and rare beauty set among the ancient contours of the palaces of a still intact and magical Florence.
Breakfast as the most important meal of the day:
Just outside, since it was a morning with temperate weather, we decided to sit down for breakfast: several small tables had in fact been set up in the space facing the hotel garden.
When a room attendant greeted us by asking what we wished to drink, we asked for a glass of hot water with lemon to purify the body and start the day off right, a cappuccino with lots of foam, and an American coffee.
In the meantime, we went to the buffet and to our surprise discovered that it was a veritable feast adorned with the freshest and tastiest seasonal delicacies.
Whether one prefers the sweet, typically native breakfast (that all-Italian taste of coffee and croissant at the bar in the morning is a hyper-recognizable must) or the continental mix or savory variants with savory dishes, at Palazzo Castri one can say that no one is really displeased.
Healthy products, low-fat and fruit yogurt, soft and very tasty-looking homemade cakes, freshly baked croissants but also very soft milk sandwiches stuffed with cheese and cold cuts, olives, fresh bread.
In addition, a selection of gluten-free products is available upon request, and for those who don't want to give anything up choose from the a la carte menu a variety of omelets and eggs cooked in a variety of ways and fresh fruit and vegetable extracts.
In short...a riot of possible choices and combinations to please even the most discerning of palates!

The pleasure of coffee in the garden, early in the morning
One of the most satisfying sensations of enjoying breakfast at Palazzo Castri was also doing so...in that particular location. If dining there had transported us to a rarefied and elegant atmosphere, having breakfast there was like landing gently and gracefully in a new week, amidst busy schedules and harried running around the city.
What then is more energizing, and at the same time relaxing, than to carve out the right amount of time to sip coffee in front of a well-kept garden, under the blue sky of a morning that is beginning to open up, of light and temperature, in the total quiet of the hotel observing the guests who, slowly, one by one, begin to appear in the breakfast area. Breakfast is perhaps one of the most sacred rituals for us, and certainly the most essential meal of the day.
At Palazzo Castri, where attention to the customer is never lacking, this is well known: that is why no one has been left behind, meeting the needs of those who like various mixes and combinations, those who are satiated with a croissant but also those who want to enjoy lavish portions perhaps knowing that they will spend the day sightseeing, walking, and will not want to waste too much time at the restaurant for lunch.

Saying "Goodbye" to this weekend of wellness at Palazzo Castri is by no means easy: the warm, sweet foam of the cappuccino (excellent!) and a coffee (actually: two) allowed us to come away from this goodbye with a little less sorrow, and the feeling of having experienced something extraordinary and relaxing will remain in our hearts for a very long time.
Breakfast at Palazzo Castri was that final, perfect moment that definitively sealed the good memory of the experience and the overwhelmingly positive feedback toward the facility: a quiet bar area with polite and courteous staff, the banquettes with the various dishes always stocked and perfectly clean, a textbook cappuccino, the fresh produce, comfortable seating and ample tables where one can rest one's belongings.
And finally, that soft, enveloping quiet, necessary in the morning to start the day off on the right foot, without the hustle and bustle of those who - at the bar - scramble to get to the counter, or talk too loudly.
