There are some months considered to be quintessentially touristy-just think of the spring period or Christmas bridges-and other times of the year when we used to think that cities, even the most attractive and fascinating on the planet, tended to remain...short of tourists.
November is one of those times.
This, however, was before the concept of tourism itself completely changed in shape and size, before new ideas of Travel developed, so many and varied possibilities and last-minute offers, short weekends, tripled and expanded opportunities for different types of explorers.
Today, in November, you can often enjoy mild weather days in Florence, even very sunny and vivid ones, if you are really lucky.
You can take part in unique events and demonstrations. Probably compared to the busiest months of tourism, the hot months, you will enter museums without too much of a line at the entrance or you will be lucky enough to grab some advantageous cheap deals on overnight stays through some special off-season promotion.

On the other hand, if you are a film fan, forbidden to miss one of the coolest and most niche film festivals on the Italian scene. We are talking about the precious Festival dei Popoli, the most important International Documentary Film Festival in Italy and the oldest in Europe, which every year brings truly sensational and first-rate filmmakers and films to Florence.
The Festival of Peoples will take place Nov. 4-12 at the La Compagnia Cinema Theater on Via Cavour and will offer a packed schedule of meetings, talks, and screenings, covering the entire week and at different times.

In November, as well as in other winter months, it is possible to enjoy the many events of "Domenica al Museo" or "Domenica Metropolitana" in which the city literally fills up with many cultural, musical, street food, and market offerings...a very rich array of options to convince even the most skeptical and lazy to get out of the house, enjoy a breath of fresh air and stroll among the wonders of Florence.

Speaking of outdoor experience and winter sports, always remember that Florence is embedded in a surrounding naturalistic context that is truly varied and full of opportunities even during the winter season: trekking for multiple levels of difficulty, hiking in Casentino, Mugello or the Pistoia Mountains, late autumn walks in the Chianti hills...in short, if you visit Florence in November and feel like an outing, you will be spoiled for choice.
