Restructuring:
Given the complexity of the interventions, and the richness of the spaces, working on the royal apartments required great commitment and time from a multidisciplinary team of professionals. In fact, the decorative style is a mixed style: each room has its own distinct taste, and although we intervened on several levels, it was necessary and necessary to maintain its peculiarities.
In addition, the work carried out respected the rearrangement ordered in the 1990s, following the last inventory of 1911 that documented the layout of the spaces.
An unmissable treat: the hall of "parrots"
Among the various rooms you can finally re-visit in the royal apartments of the Pitti Palace, don't miss the famous parrot room, which in the Medici period was the antechamber to Grand Prince Ferdinand's bedroom.
On the French wall hangings (circa 1810) in the room, brought to Florence by Ferdinand III of Lorraine, is depicted a heraldic motif with eagles: the always biting and ironic spirit of the Florentines then, in the Restoration period, identified them as...parrots.
Info and how to visit the royal apartments:
The Royal Apartments are open to the public Tuesday through Sunday. Reservations are compulsory, and access is regulated according to a time slot and quota. Visits must be booked online or directly on the day of entry at the ticket office.
First visit is at 10 a.m., last visit at 4:45 p.m. Visits take place every 45 minutes; available time slots are as follows: 10 am - 10:45 am - 11:30 am - 12:15 pm - 1 pm - 1:45 pm - 2:30 pm - 3:15 pm - 4 pm - 4:45 pm.
Groups consist of a maximum of 20 visitors.
The meeting point is located on the second floor, in the entrance hall of the Palatine Gallery.
The tour, accompanied by 2 staff units pertaining to the Uffizi Galleries, lasts about 45 minutes.
