How to visit Chianti?

Our first and most important suggestion is to make yourself a basic itinerary, proceed in steps and let the magic of the moment and the miles of asphalt accompany you guide you. One rule, however: do not rush! Breathe in the scents and flavors coming from the rolling hills around you. If you have the chance, instead of driving, you could take advantage of visiting the area by scooter.

You will feel as if you are living suspended inside an old movie, a film in which only you-and the nature that embraces you-are the protagonists.

Sunsets, glares and silences will be the main companions of a daily, or weekend, adventure to be enjoyed until the last minute. Or perhaps it would be appropriate to say, the last sip.

Chianti: charming villages...

To begin a tour of Chianti, we are often asked where it would be best to start. The answer for us is...but from Greve, of course.

And to be precise, from the precious and enchanting Piazza Matteotti where you will find an institution-and the first gastronomic stop on your tour: the Antica Macelleria Falorni, since 1729 with the best local delicacies.

Another Must-visit: the fortified village of Montefioralle, a few kilometers from Greve in Chianti, rightfully included among the "Most Beautiful Villages in Italy."

After a stop in Panzano in Chianti-a visit to the Antica Macelleria Cecchini, amidst Tuscan DOC myths and traditions, is not to be missed-we highly recommend that you take a trip between the Elsa and Pesa Valleys, also visiting the towns of Barberino, Tavarnelle and San Casciano. To do so, you have to move a little from the main road we had taken but we assure you that it is worth it. In fact, this is an area that is part of the Classico subzone of Chianti and offers insights of rare beauty that are impossible to miss.

Let's then return to the wine and oil road and stop to pay homage with a visit to the charming villages of Castellina, Radda and Gaiole. Right here, stop by the Meleto Castle and the Brolio Castle. You will be impressed.

One last tip: on your way down to the Siena area, be sure to visit the Chianti Sculpture Park in Pievasciata.
