September is a great start: festivals, events and initiatives in the area

September: the month of restarting, perhaps the real beginning of the year. Kids going back to their school desks, homes, streets and offices beginning to repopulate with noise, traffic, daily routine rushing by between appointments, work and family.

September is the best month, the most fruitful and opportune month, to redraw the contours of one's life, make plans, flesh out ideas, fall in love or re-in love with one's days as they are and we have chosen them.

September brings with it hope and longing.

And what better opportunity than a little retreat, perhaps for a weekend, in a city full of art and beauty like Florence to relax and take stock of one's time?

In September, our city literally bursts with wonder, with its days now no longer muggy but with pleasant weather, a gentle, crisp atmosphere in the air, smiling people pedaling through the downtown streets, the tourist flow calmer than in summer.

In short...September is really a lucky month to visit us!

Festivals, events and appointments in the city in September

September in and around Florence is full of engaging activities and events such as the many village festivals that enliven the surrounding countryside and hills and offer, at popular prices, some of the oldest dishes from Tuscan peasant and rural recipes.

On Sept. 7, look up for the rificolona festival: this is the time when Florentines gather on the banks of the Arno River carrying colorful paper lanterns in honor of the Virgin Mary's Nativity.

But September is also city fairs of km0 food and wine, vintage clothing and handicrafts: don't miss Artigianato a Palazzo, Sept. 15-17 at the Corsini Garden of the palace of the same name on Via Il Prato.

And for sports lovers, CORRI LA VITA, a charity event dedicated to running to raise funds for projects specializing in the treatment and prevention of breast cancer, returns again this year on Sunday, September 24.
