The Florentine Renaissance

Museums, concerts and events are reopening. Italy’s recovery is a Florentine Renaissance! The celebrations of the 700th anniversary of the death of the great poet Dante will be held alongside the other Florentine cultural events, which have been organised safely and are easy to participate in. Piazza Signoria is hosting Penote’s “Abete” maxi-installation, which opened in March on the Dantedì, a day celebrating the great Dante.

The Uffizi await you with a fantastic cultural reopening. Not only are they hosting “Dante the Vision of Art” until 4 July, but they are also celebrating reopening with 14 new rooms and 129 works, many of which are on display for the first time. A cultural feast we can finally enjoy. Two paintings by Daniele Volterra, a follower of Michelangelo, and new rooms on the first floor dedicated to the best of 16th-century painting in Emilia Romagna, Tuscany and Rome.  New locations for the works of Parmigianino and Rosso Fiorentino in a dialogue with Pontormo.

Interesting frescos were discovered during restoration of the areas that had not been used until now. These include a Cosimo de’ Medici fresco painted in the 17th century. 

Also opening are Palazzo Medici Riccardi, the first Medici Palance where Cosimo il Vecchio and Lorenzo Il Magnifico lived, and Donatello, Michelangelo, Paolo Uccello and Botticelli worked.

The rooms and gardens of the Unesco World Heritage Sites the Medici Villas at Poggio a Caiano and Cerreto are also reopening.
