When it comes to identifying the main points of interest in Florence, the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore and the Museo dell'Opera del Duomo are two fixed presences on any itinerary.
In this regard, we dedicate today a small guide to the tickets and visiting hours of these two must-see attractions.
Tickets
With the exception of the Cathedral, whose admission is always free, those who want to visit the Dome, Bell Tower, Museum, Baptistery and Santa Reparata must have a special ticket.
Currently, the administration provides three types of passes, active for three days, useful for visiting all or only some of these points of interest:
Brunelleschi Pass (30 euros): Dome, Bell Tower, Museum, Baptistery, Santa Reparata
Giotto Pass (20 euros): Campanile, Museum, Baptistery, Santa Reparata
Ghiberti Pass (15 euros): Museum, Baptistery, Santa Reparata.
Reduced tickets are available at a cost of 12, 7 and 5 euros, respectively, in the case of children aged 7 to 14. All students are also entitled to reduced tickets. Minors under the age of 7, priests, religious men and women, members of the Police Force in the performance of their duties, persons with disabilities and their companions, tour guides licensed in the province of Florence, and tour guides with actual group enjoy a specific exemption.
Schedules
These are the visiting hours for the monuments:
Dome: weekdays: 8:15 a.m. - 6:45 p.m. (closing 7:30 p.m.), Saturdays: 8:15 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (closing 5:15 p.m.), Sundays and holidays: 12:45 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. (closing 5:15 p.m.)
Bell Tower: daily: 8:15 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. (closing 7:45 p.m.)
Museum: daily: 9 a.m.-7:30 p.m. (closing 7:45 p.m.). Closed the first Tuesday of each month
Baptistery: daily: 9:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. (closing 7:45 p.m.)
Cathedral: Monday to Saturday: 10:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (closing 5 p.m.). Sundays and religious holidays: closed for worship.
Santa Reparata: Monday to Saturday: 10:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (closing 5 p.m.), Sunday and religious holidays: 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. (closing 5 p.m.).
Purchasing and booking tickets
Reservations to the monuments can be made online at duomo.firenze.it : simply select the ticket button and then, once the purchase page opens, take a look at the date and time available for each monument. Once the ticket and slot have been selected, you will be able to proceed with the online reservation and you will receive an order confirmation email with your ticket attached.
The ticket does not have to be printed, but the hard copy can be useful to facilitate the correct reading of accesses. Otherwise, it will still be possible to have the ticket displayed in digital format on tablets and smartphones.
However, we would like to remind you that - although it is preferable to make reservations online - you can reserve and purchase tickets at the ticket counters of the two official ticket offices located at Piazza Duomo No. 14/A and Piazza Santa Giovanni No. 7, subject to availability, during the hours of 8 a.m. to 7:15 p.m.
Finally, we would like to remind you that in order to avoid queues or overcrowding, it is advisable to arrive at the monument at the booked time and, where possible, a few minutes before the start of your slot. The maximum delay allowed to enter the monument is 5 minutes.
