Florence
On 15th April 1452, a child named Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci was registered at the registry office in Anchiano, a hamlet of the municipality of Vinci, in what we would now call the metropolitan city of Florence. He was Leonardo da Vinci: the undisputed genius of painting, hydraulic engineering, mathematics, of what we call Italian inventiveness.
His inventions were forerunners of our modernity, from studies on the human body to experiments in the mechanical arts and the creation of the first flying machines. We can find his works exhibited in various parts of the world, but it is here in Florence that we can breathe the air in which his genius grew and follow in his footsteps, the first steps of the universally recognised Genius.
Leonardo pushed himself higher than anyone else with talent, dedication, curiosity and will, not only to surpass his masters but also to learn the laws governing man, nature and physics. His studies were aimed at inventing, building and creating the new. His mind flew high, just as he wanted to 'make men fly', an endeavour to which he devoted his whole life.

A stone's throw from the interactive artist
A few minutes walk from Palazzo Castri will take you to the Interactive Museum dedicated to Leonardo da Vinci. Here you will walk alongside the author of the Mona Lisa through the history of his mechanical art, his inventions and futuristic projects, as well as his accurate anatomical studies. Of great interest are the 20 geographical tables in which Leonardo expressed not only his skills as an accurate cartographer, but also as a military strategist and hydraulic engineer.
These maps were in fact used to study defensive and war plans and for the construction of irrigation canals which have survived to this day. In the museum it is possible to interact with Leonardo's works in virtual mode, trying your hand at building a bridge, a dome or a war machine, following the drawings of the Florentine genius.
The Enchantment of Leonardo's Painting
Inside the Uffizi Gallery, in July 2018, a room dedicated to Leonardo was inaugurated, which houses the three certified original works that have passed the critics' scrutiny on their authenticity. These are the Baptism of Christ, the Annunciation and the Adoration of the Magi, expressions of the sublime art of the genius of Vinci and which have aroused so much interest in the world.
